The first time I ever had to write a devotion was when I found myself in charge of the daily devotions for my Costa Rica mission trip. I had no idea what I was doing. Sure, I had read many devotions, but where do I start writing them? I came up with a few "keepers" for that mission trip and since then it has become a bit easier to put them together.
What I've discovered is that most of the lessons in life can be written down and called a devotion. I believe that any of us who write these just want to spare our fellow human beings a bit of suffering by helping them to learn from our past mistakes and epiphanies.
I also believe that there's more to being a Christian than going to church on Sunday. Going to church every week is important to me as a Christian because it's important to spend time worshipping with other Christians. But keeping God in the forefront of your thoughts at all times is equally as important, if not more so.
With that in mind, and so you don't have to search through the whole site to find them, here's a list of my previous devotion blogs.
